Sunday, bloody Sunday.

17 01 2010

I ment to do this a few days ago but I got distracted.  It happens, but now I’m watching 24 and decided to start up again and see if i cant knock this out.  Movie reviews at some point in here might contain spoilers but I’ll try to keep them out or at least tag them.

But first, the events of Christmas and New Years!  Pretty laid back christmas went up to the parents on the eve, had one of the best christmas eves ever at gmas house.  No family fights lots of drinking and fun, was a good time with family.  Xmas day got up opened gifts at the parents then jetted back to the apt and grabbed everything and took off to Tims house in KY!  Had my TV/computer/clothes for a week and stayed with him and his pup Doug.  We had a blast, lots of drinking and food fun and watched a ton of movies/TopGear on his 120inch screen projector of awesomeness!  Really, it’s quite nice 1080 movies from 10 feet away on a 10 foot screen is pretty nice.  All and all it was a good week, a nice relaxing time off from work which I desperately needed.

As for movies, off the top of my head the ones I watched and enjoyed were: The Producers, Pirate Radio, (500) Days of Summer, No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, Inside Man, and a bunch others but those left a good taste in my mouth.  I’m just going to hit on a few here since I don’t feel like writing for hours.  At least about this stuff.  So to start, (500) Days of Summer, a sarcastic love story that is just amazingly well done and acted.  And I don’t say that just because I may or may not be in love with Zooey Deschanel.  It really was a fun movie to watch, the two main characters play off each other so well.

Next up, The Producers, this came out forever ago and I was 98% sure it was a gay movie that was going to be about gays and be stupid.  Boy was I wrong!  It was an awesome movie that had gays in it about Hitler!  But really, such a funny movie, and quite a good musical all in all.  I should have expected it since It was directed and written by the great Mel Brooks.  The entire reason we watched this was because he was getting an award at the Kennedy Center and we were watching the backstory about him while making steaks.  One thing lead to another and Tim said it was amazing so we watched it.

The only other one that I’ll hit on is No Country For Old Men.  This movie was a huge success as far as money and awards go, alas I refused to watch it at the time it came out.  I’ve done that quite a bit recently with big movies, maybe because the hype is so crazy these days that its overwhelming to go into a movie and take it as serious or unbias when everyone says its the best thing ever or the worst etc.  No Country for Old Men was an amazingly well acted, written, and directed movie.  It did one thing that I really like about movies these days and that’s just tell a story without having it be the normal happy ending or expected finale that you see in almost every movie.  Most writers and directors are afraid I think to kill someone off in a movie or have something not play out with the normal storybook ending.  The Cohen brothers are not those writers at all.  Really I do suggest you watch this and enjoy it.

That’s about all for now, RDJ just won best actor in a comedy movie for Sherlock Holmes and gave a hilarious speech.  I watched the new show on FOX “Human Target” and it was awesome, a lot of really good actors in it and looks to be something to continue to watch.  Oh then 24, I’ve not watched much of 24 but I do enjoy the show, and it has Starbuck on it now so more reason to watch.  Now I’ve just put (500) Days of Summer on, I’m going to finish this orange and head to bed!  Alot of people get tomorrow off for MLKJR day, alas I am not one of them.

New Year!

14 01 2010

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve wrote anything here, my bad.  Just going to do a quick few things before I pass out.

First it is a new year!  I’ve never been one for doing resolutions, mostly because I’ll just forget them.  But what the hell!  Here’s a few things I’d like to get done this year:

1.  Get in better shape – Got a gym membership in dec so this is going already

2.  Get more organized – Mostly writing down what i want to do and remembering it, and just getting things together in general.

3.  Write more!!!! – This mean both here and I would like to start writing a short story/book maybe who knows just write more.

4.  Get a podcast going – Pretty simple

5.  Drink more water – obvious

6. Be more social/go out more – I don’t like to go out much mostly cause it costs money but alas I need to.

7. Look into/start my own small buisness or something of the sort

8. Find a job or start doing something I enjoy not something that just gets me by.

9.  Read more

Thats all for now I might add to it but thats just a quick list.  There are a few other things I’d like to do but they are not really resolutions although they might get added.

Thats about it for this tonight, it’s late I need to get to bed.  I’ll post maybe tomorrow about my xmas/newyears events and such.  Happy New Years!

Aw Snap!

3 12 2009

Hi.  This is still here it seems and I’ve neglected it.  Probably because I’ve been busy being awesome and using b words.  Thanksgiving happened.  I’ve watch a metric shit-ton of movies in the last few weeks.  For fun purposes lets see if I can actually remember and list them.  Try to keep up.

KISS KISS BANG BANG, Flashbacks of a Fool, Brick, I’m Reed Fish, Smart People, Interstate 60, Ink, Shrink, In the Company of Men, District B13, A Guide To Recognizing your Saints, Primer, Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day, Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, The Hebrew Hammer, Moon.  Along with  finishing watching all 13 seasons of Top Gear and the first 3 eps of season 14.  Oh and a few eps of The Wire season 1.

Yea, I had alot of free time, not a big deal but it’s easy to watch a few streaming movies before you go to bed or while your bored.  Still have a ton of movies on my instant and dvd queue on netflix not to mention a few movies that are coming out soon I’ll need to see…AVATAR..SHERLOCK MAHFAHKN HOLMES!  Should be a good movie December if these don’t totally suck.

In other news I decided to join the gym my roommate and 4 or more friends are a member of, I’m already paying for it as my shoulders are crazy sore from the first night of lifting.  Of course all of this is to further my abilities to go out with super models and actresses.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m already a big deal and they should understand this and be begging to be in my presence so they can bask in the glory that is me.  But they are illogical and don’t understand this so I’ll have to do more apparently.  Such is life.  Christmas is soon, new PSU/Monitor coming for my desktop computer, pretty excited.  Also I’ll be off work from Christmas Eve until the 3rd or 4th of January whichever is that Monday after New Years.  First semi-vaca i’ve had in quite some time at least for the 2 years that I’ve been working at my current employer.  So…win!

It’s also Thursday so you should be watching FLASHFORWARD tonight because it’s awesome.  Fringe also isn’t bad so check it.  And of course Scrubs came back this week, you can check it out at hulu.com and probably whatever abc’s website is.  It’s different but I still enjoyed it and will leave you with the best line in the episode from Dr. Kelso when talking about some women next to him: “I’ll hit it like a Semi Truck without brakes.”  Awesome.

BYE

Yea, That just happened.

21 11 2009

And by that I mean I’ve just watched Episode 3 of Season 13 of Top Gear.  I started watching TG about a month ago at season 1, off and on and now I’m a mere 4 episodes from being caught up with Season14 that just started last week.  I’ve managed to do none of the things I said I was going to do in my first post about blogging…mainly become famous in 3 days by doing it.  Alas it will happen because I’m just that damn awesome.

So lets talk something I’ve yet to really talk about, videya gaymes!  I broke down and actually bought a FPS for console instead of PC this past week, that game being COD:MW2/COD4 2/COD6…ish you get the point.  I hate console shooters in general(not counting the Halo series)  due to the FACT yes it is a fact that you will never be as good playing console as you will PC.  Controllers suck and are incredibly inferior compared to a mouse and keyboard.  Don’t try to argue because any of your statements are invalid and wrong.  That being said, Infinity Ward, the creators of MW2, royally fucked the PC version with no dedicated servers, mods, console, kicking, etc the list continues so I joined some friends on xbox version.  The game is actually pretty fun.  The first few days I took a good bit of getting used to and I was getting steam rolled quite a bit, but once I picked the maps up and got a good grasp on the controls the tides have changed pretty quick.  Mostly due to me not throwing a grenade when I think I was reloading.  The last 2 nights I’ve lead kills on every map and crushed the scrubs I’ve been playing with to the point that I don’t really want to play it that much anymore because there is not a challenge.  The entire reason I played FPS games to begin with was to beat other people, not to beat the game or even have fun really, although that is a direct correlation with winning.  Console is just not as much fun as PC, you can’t play with your friends as easily, you cant play competitively at all unless your eating someones asshole at MLG or some other shitty lan/contest which is stupid for consoles.  I really believe this may be the nail in the coffin for PC gaming competitions.  There has not been a super competitive game since COD2 for PC gaming.  Yes COD4 had some but nothing compared to COD2 and the old CS/CSS competitions of the past.  It’s disappointing but there is not much left to do about it, casual gamers suck asshole and MMORPG’s have killed FPS gaming.

So there’s a gaming update but eventually I’ll actually talk about good games and fun things if they ever happen.

Ok now to complain about work.  It sucks, I hate it, and I never want to go back.  Not much I can do right now but mark my words, I will change that and move out of the daily hell I’m currently in.

Running theme of my blog will be TV shows I’ve decided so here is a run down of what you should be watching and what’s coming you have to get up to date on.  Things that are on now and you should be watching:

FlashForward, Heroes(until they kill Sylar off), V, Top Gear S14, It’s Always Sunny, HIMYM, Big Bang Theory, House(A DVR show but still watchable),NCIS(DVR also but still good)

Things Coming you should catch up on:

CHUCK!!!!(Coming Jan!!!!), Lost(I’ve not watched it but the shows almost over),  24(Getting old but still well made)

Guilty Pleasure of the Fall

GLEE

That’s an update, I might make another one this weekend as I’m broke and have nothing else to do besides watch TV/Movies.

Sunday Thoughts and the FACTS of movies.

8 11 2009

So lets go over a few quick things, first off, football should be year round and I should have more channels to watch the games on.  Also Hockey should be televised more on channels not known as VS with commentators that actually know what is going on.

Ok now that I’ve said the obvious I feel the need to explain how movies work.  There are roughly 4 maybe 5 categories of movie grading that everyone should understand and accept to be true.  Those are: Great, Good, Eh, Bad, Kill the creator and everyone associated.

Elaborating on those the first is unattainable by 98% of movies created.  To be a “Great” movie it needs to have everything from phenomenal acting, story, directing, editing, and music.  Missing any of those disqualifies it from being Great end of story.  There are a lot of movies that can fall into the “Good” Category.  A Good movie should have 3 of those 5 qualities that would make it Great.  And depending on outstanding overachievement in acting alone needs at least 3 to be good.  There are a few movies that fail at direction, edting, and music but are still good because of how well they are acted or how greatly written the story is, and example is “I Am Legend” starring Will Smith.  He carries the movie mostly because he’s alone but his emotional range and interpretation of being alone was nothing short of epic.  The story was dated, the direction was solid but nothing amazing and the editing/music were average at best.  But Will Smith is golden.

After those two categories things can go down hill fast especially with the “Eh” movies.  These are movies that under normal circumstances would be considered forgettable or even bad.  But throw something like…alcohol into the equation or the presence of a hot girl who wants to see it is watchable.  There are also known as chick flicks or b-rated movies.  Then there are the “BAD” movies, and not the Michael Jackson fighting darker than him gangsters bad.  These are the movies I wouldn’t even spend the bandwidth of a free wifi on downloading.  They have bad acting, no story or direction and were made using windows movie maker on windows ME.  Terribly placed music that doesn’t fit whats going on in a scene and a general wonder of why it was funded in the first place.

There it’s the “Kill the person who made this and everyone associated with it” movies, which infuriate me so much I feel that I must find the person to blame for this movie and shank him in front of a bunch of children who have terminal diseases.  There was no reason for these movies and after it was done being made should have been burned and everyone who helped it should pay anyone who even heard about the movie whatever they made while making the movie.  There are not to many of these movies, since some movies that are so terrible they become funny do not count in this category.  There movies are just completely uncalled for and retared, such as House of 1000 corpses.  There was no reason for the movie, the acting was terrible, the story was idiotic and it was completely random and unable to be understood.  It was like watching a decapitation by a terrorist on a child, its just not something anyone wants to see nor should they be asked to under any circumstances.  If you liked this movie, or those like it,  you should shoot yourself  but not till you kill everyone associated with the movie first.

I’m sure some people will disagree with me, but they are wrong.  I’m unbiased in my movie watching, I can accept a movie being good or even great if I don’t like it or being bad if I do like it.  I call them how they actually are. It’s called the truth, if you don’t like it you’re probably an idiot and can’t even read this to begin with.

That’s movies in a nutshell.  I’ll be making a list sometime soon as to some movies that fall under these categories when I’m less lazy.

Let’s get this party started!

7 11 2009

So I’m sitting in my apartment watching the Buckeye game, which to my surprise they are winning, and made this silly blog.  Obviously within a week the entire world will be reading this and waiting in desperate anticipation for my next post because I’m awesome.

So to get this started here’s a quick run down as to what to expect from me.  First I have alot of free time to ridicule people and things that are dumb, like PT Cruisers, they are terrible and anyone who drives one should be forced to have Swine Flu.  I’ll be doing some movie reviews since I see alot, I’d love to be reviewing Boondock Saints 2: All saints day but of course it’s not out around here and I’m to poor to fly/drive somewhere that has it out.  Same with television, such as things you should be watching: White Collar(USA), House(Fox), FlashForward(NBC i think?), Heroes(NBC), and last for now It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia(FX).  There are more but those are on RIGHT NOW so watch them or you wont keep up.

As far as Games and Tech go to me they are almost the same thing since an Xbox360 plays games but also is a computer basically.  I’m not sure what I think about Twitter/Facebook etc on xboxlive but I’m sure I’ll use it.  Also Netflix on 360 is awesome and is coming to PS3 soon so they would almost be on the same level if it has WMC and a decent online system like xboxlive.   But it doesn’t and buying a movie is silly, I have the internet.  Not much to say on the game front right now other than COD4:MW2 (aka COD6 damn retards) is possibly the biggest fail and hit to competitive PC gaming ever.  Casual gamer love is getting a bit silly.

So that’s a start.  OSU is still winning, Pryor hasn’t been sacked or thrown an INT in dont believe it’s quite amazing.  Fedor fight soon I hope he gets his “I wont fight a real fighter” face smashed in.  How he claims to be the best but fight a bunch of children and handicapped people is blasphemous to MMA and just proves how out of touch him and his russian douche bag manager are.  OSU INT, game over pretty much.  Time to make some food bye.

P.S. Top Gear is awesome.
